“Cocaine? No? Ok. Welcome to Panama”

Hola a todo! I’m alive, well-fed, slightly sun-burnt, and temporarily back within wifi range in Panama City. Just spent 5 days exploring the Pearl Islands in the Gulf of Panama. The archipelago is fairly barren, with minimal services available. All I could do all day was swim, read, fish, swim, sail, swim, have a beer, then go to bed at 8.  The biggest excitement was a plane taking off over the beach we were anchored at. It was all kind’uv ideal.

My computer remains el-fucko’d (that’s a technical term, fyi) so my posts will probably be brief and phone-composed for a while until I find myself in a city for a few days. Apologies in advance for any poor editing and /or bad media formating.

At the moment, I’m drinking alone in a bar in the consular / Casco Viejo district of Panama. I left the boys on the boat so I could explore, but it started pouring, and a pretty girl told me to drink beer in her bar (con air conditioning) so here I am. I don’t regret my choices (later edit – ended up chatting with said hostess, the owner, a waitress, and another sailor in Spanglish until 2am).

You’ll all be happy to know that I’ve finally got around to the “chart” part of this whole Chart of Days thing. These are pretty simple, because I’m neither an artist nor a cartographer. And like the US Hydrographic Office says, these charts are not meant for navigational purposes. I guess they’re a visual journal?

Anyway, here’s some stuff I did. More to come, in a daily-ish format (though I’ll be offline for weeks at a time I suspect – when will Google wifi the ocean???). We’re heading west along the coast, slowly towards David, island hopping and adventuring for the next 3 weeks. Will check in whenever I can!

It’s been about 45 days since I left home. I’m not homesick, but I miss my people.
